Neil Salvesen

Governor

Overview

Neil joined the Board in July 2019.

He is a qualified Chartered Secretary, with some 25 years’ experience, acting as Company Secretary for a number of companies.  He has held Board level financial, operational, and general management roles in various organisations, actively involved in their development and monitoring of strategic plans, whilst playing a pivotal role in building relationships with key stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.

He has given regular employee communication sessions to explain business performance.  Working as a team member, Neil has built good relationships with executive and non-executive board members.

This is equally true in his more recent career supporting business teams as an external consultant, and in his role as Trustee of the Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland.  Having lived and worked in the area for the past 25 years, Neil is aware of some of the challenges faced in running organisations in this large and diverse county. He is keen to see the North East region thrive, and feels that a sustainable and resilient further education sector is key to achieving this.
