David Towns

Governor

Overview

David joined the Board in July 2019.

He is a solicitor with over 15 years’ experience of legal practice, specialising in agricultural and rural property law, but with a strong working-knowledge of other legal areas such as employment, contract law, private client law and litigation.

Working as a County Councillor with Northumberland County Council, he has gained a great deal of experience in dealing with difficult situations and in managing expectations. Elected to serve the Pegswood Division in May 2017, he represents a division which includes areas of substantial wealth and areas of substantial deprivation. With a mixed case-load, the role is never dull!

Over the last ten years, David has acted in a semi-voluntary role as Clerk to the Foundation Governors of King Edward VI School, in Morpeth.  This role provides him with the opportunity to “give something back” to his old school, and to be involved in developing its non-academic offering through the private grants the Foundation makes. He is tremendously proud of what has been achieved for both the school and individuals alike.
